Events and Activities

ISCO organizes regular events and activities with and for children across Indonesia. These activities support children's educational and holistic development. Recent activities and events are detailed below.

2017

  • The Independence Day should be celebrated, in order to maintain the spirit of the fight to seize the independence of the Republic of Indonesia. At this moment, ISCO's friends from Rajawali Corporate came to Manggarai activity center to tell stories with the children.

  • With joy, all children listened to fairy tales and sang together. The day was filled with the joy of all children.

  • Each year, ISCO Foundation hosts an outdoor event for the children, to enjoy a day full of activities and fun outside of their dense neighborhoods.

  • This year, ISCO Foundation held the 2017 Annual Meeting, with the theme of One Day for Children, located in the Taman Bunga Wiladatika, Cibubur, East Jakarta. Throughout the day, the children enjoyed and participated in various games. Among playing with baloon, snake ladder, completing puzzle, congklak, house of tales, sack race, eating krupuk (Indonesian Chips) race, transferring flags, pull mine, futsal, coloring, craft making with brooch and candles; the children also had to perform arts in groups divide by their areas.

  • All these activities encouraged the children to appear bolder and become more confident.  In addition, gifts were distributed to diligent children in school and children who achieved high rankings in school. Furthermore, every child received a special goody bag.

  • The achievements of this event certainly cannot be separated from the contributions of the donors to the ISCO Foundation, including; PVH Corp., Mead Johnson Indonesian, Tauzia Hotel Management, and First WAP. Through these valuable supports, ISCO can ensure that the children had the opportunity to have a fun day together and get acquainted with students from other ISCO centers.

  • Ramadan fasting is generally a blessed month where many people complete acts of goodness, and Mujigae, a restaurant that serves Korean food, provided a break fasting menu for 1000 children assisted by the ISCO Foundation.

  • In this event Mujigae presented the children with chicken bento as children’s menu. Mujigae has 17 branch in the last 4 years in Bandung, Jakarta, Tangerang, Bogor, Bekasi, and Depok.

  • Although serving the Korean menu, Mujigae which means the name of the rainbow is an original restaurant from Indonesia and is currently managed by the second generation of original founder Mr. Yunus with his wife.

  • The Jakarta Story Festival is a festival of writing and storytelling for children (6-18 years old) with the aim of increasing public interest in reading, writing, and appreciating literature through workshops (fiction, non-fiction, and handicraft), panel discussions, and information sharing sessions.

  • This festival is presented by Rumah Cerita, sponsored by Australia Global Alumni and supported by National Library of Indonesia. The ISCO Foundation took the opportunity to participate in some activities, such as Drawing Pillows where the younger children are invited to describe their dreams, write them down and talk about them in order to become excited about reaching their dream. Furthermore, shooting Dreams is a shared learning activity, photographing the subject of life while inviting the children to talk about their future dreams.

  • The ISCO assisted children were also able to explore the National Library of Indonesia which has recently been inaugurated and crowned as the highest library in Southeast Asia.

  • November is commemorated as National Dental Health Month, where the government puts together a campaign for the importance of maintaining oral and dental health. Through the invitation of Students of Faculty of Dentistry - Trisakti University Jakarta, the children of ISCO got a chance to check their teeth.

  • The children from the activity centers in Pesing, Kosambi, Semanan, Gege, and Mangga Dua participated in this activity. Although many were initially afraid and nervous, they were all well taken care of, and always returned cheerfully from the examination room.

  • In addition to being examined, that day the children were taught how to brush their teeth properly and received a toothbrush and toothpaste as gifts from the dentist of the Faculty of Dentistry, Trisaki University, Jakarta.

  • Located at Starbucks FX Sudirman, Jakarta, ISCO met up with Starbucks Indonesia (PT Sari Coffee Indoensia) to attend the pre launching of the Cheer Party 2017. In this activity, children from the ISCO Foundation were present from the Pesing activity center, receiving prizes in the series of Give Good Campaign - Drop of Hope Starbucks 2017.

  • Give Good Campaign - Drop of Hope Starbucks, established in 2012 has now reached its sixth year of ongoing activities. The program was started to bring hope to the children to reach a brighter future. Starbucks Indonesia, Flink Magazine and Square Team invited all coffee lovers in Starbucks outlets to participate in the Drop of Hope embodiment.

  • In 2017, Starbucks Indonesian was back to work with ISCO and based on data from Starbucks Indonesia, nearly 2000 school supplies were donated by Starbucks visitors to ISCO assisted children in need in Jakarta, Surabaya and Medan.

  • The fire that broke out last September in Mangga Dua, resulted in the loss of many houses where assisted children of the ISCO Foundation lived. Therefore, PVH Corp. Indoneisa, who is a permanent donor of ISCO Foundation since 2014, invited the children to ISCO Mangga Dua for a fun day out to Ecopark, Taman Impian Jaya Ancol.

  • That day, the children from the activity center in Mangga Dua, were taught how to grow corn, play with rabbits, feed goats, recognize ducks, geese, and reptiles more closely, see bees in their direct habitat, and make craft-based soil clay.

  • Hopefully the children from the activity center Mangga Dua were entertained and motivated to keep their learning spirit despite losing their home in a fire.

  • A birth certificate is one of the official documents of the state as evidence of the validity of the status of a child's civil relationship. Having a birth certificate is one of the basic rights of a child, and a requirement for schooling for the child ranging from kindergarten to college. In addition, a birth certificate is required of making a family card and identity card (KTP); to apply for jobs including being a member of the Indonesian National Army (TNI) and Indonesian Police (POLRI); for the use of suffrage, handling of inheritance, manufacture of a passport, to marry, and to get a driving license.

  • Unfortunately, many of the assisted children of ISCO Foundation who were born and grew up in low-income densely populated neighborhoods, do not have birth certificates. This is because, many parents do not know how to obtain a birth certificate, although the procedure is free and easy to complete.

  • For this reason, in collaboration with Plan International Indonesia, the children assisted by the ISCO Foundation jointly organized a Creative Deep Campaign. Located at the Regunan Zoo, the children of ISCO Foundation participated in educating Regunan zoo visitors about the complete procedure for obtaining a birth certificate. It also served as a training ground for ISCO Foundation's children to voice themselves about Children Rights as well as be more confident in meeting and/or greeting new people.

  • Jakarta is one of the most populous and busiest cities in Indonesia. Clean Up Jakarta Day is an annual event that tightens the brides between communities, schools, companies and many more, by a way of working together to clean Jakarta.

  • ISCO joined in on Clean Up Jakarta Day, as the children and teenagers scattered around the roundabout HI and Kota Tua to help clean up.

  • The teenage years are crucial to the development of a person. In this period of adolescence, teenagers may experience some turmoil's in their life and search for their identity.

  • Every year, ISCO Foundation holds an event titled Youth Camp ISCO Foundation. The children and teenagers of ISCO (SMP class IX to high school class XII) gather together for a couple of days. The ISCO children are given self-sufficiency training and light education materials to equip them with positive thought in order to remain passionate about their dreams and to stay and finish their education.

  • The Youth Camp this year was held at Villa Borneo, Cilember, Cisarua - Bogor, from February 18th-19th 2017. ISCO assisted children from 17 different studio locations spread across Jakarta and Depok. They were educated about career selection during one session. They were also invited to participate in various outdoor games that encourage teambuilding and cooperation between the groups, because the groups consisted of children from different areas. That way the children were encouraged to step out of their comfort zone and get acquainted with new people and make friends, thereby becoming more confident and open towards others.

  • The UN World Summit in September 2015, established Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development Objectives or SDG's, which urge for economic and environmental development. The SDG's consist of 17 Goals and 196 targets, and Indonesia is committed to running Agenda 2013 with the aim of realizing poverty, tackling inequality, promoting human rights, and paying attention to linkages between social and economic progresses and the environment.

  • On October 22nd, AIESEC Indonesia from Universitas Prasetiya Mulya, along with ISCO Foundation lead the global campaign #Walk4SDGs, at noon on Car Free Day (Sudirman - Bundaran HI - Sudirman).

  • This activity began by showcasing the younger children of ISCO, who brought 3 regional dances; Manuk Dadali - Sunda, Yamko Rambe Yamko - Papua, Gemufamire - Maumere. At the same time, the teenagers of ISCO, together with AIESEC's youth voiced their Sustainable Development Goals. The goal of the activity was to encourage the youth of Indonesia to commit and realize the 17 goals of sustainable development, and therefore symbolically they all signed a 4-meter-long banner. By all coming together we can all realize the 17 goals of development for a better world!

2016

  • After thousands of days passed by, we arrived in 17 years of togetherness. Togetherness filled with hard work, struggle, joking and laughing, joy and sorrow. Now, ISCO Foundation is 17 years old.

  • Its a special number, a number when someone is considered able to live a mature life, able to start creating more of a better life. So we all agreed this year's theme was: "HAPPY SWEET SEVENTEEN ISCO".

  • Making it even more special, this year's event coincided with National Children's Day. To celebrate this all the children danced and sang "Ten of Children's Right". With a big birthday cake, the children sang "Happy Birthday" and blew out the candles before sharing and enjoying some cake.

  • Prizes were awarded to children whose academic achievement reflected top ten ranks in their class. Each area ISCO supports also showcased dazzling performances for ISCO's GOT TALENT. All eyes were gazing with pleasure in celebration unwaveringly at the stage.

  • Although Pokemon Go is popular now, we still do not forget our traditional games. Children and staff played bamboo dance, yo-yo, mancala, hula hoop, leaky plumbing, and molding clay. Let's check it out.

  • ISCO's annual gathering is an opportunity hosted for ISCO children who show commitment at school and at the Sanggars.

  • At the end of the school year, ISCO tutors experienced a group bonding activity that was full of adventure to refresh their spirit.

2014

  • ISCO children were invited by Ritz Carlton Hotel, Mega Kuningan to visit the hotel 
									and to participate in a presentation. The objective of this activitiy was to introduce them to the real working world 
									they will face after graduation, especially those at Junior and Senior Secondary School.

  • After the presentation, the kids had the opportunity to visit the hotel laundry room that uses high technology, the hotel kitchen and various types of hotel rooms including the President Suite.

  • PT Diversey and Doubletree (Hilton Jakarta and Hilton Bandung ), launched a program called 'Soap for Hope'  which is a partnership program to support ISCO, on Wednesday 5th November 2014 at  Pademangan Activity Center.  	Soap for Hope is focused on creating a clean environment by conducting training to produce hygienic soap from 'left over' soap.

  • Sister Anggrit from PT Diversey demonstrated steps to produce hygienic soap that can be used daily. After the soap processing was completed, the finished soap was distributed to the ISCO children and the surrounding communities. Herman Courbois, Operational Director at Doubltree  (Hilton), who was also present, also participated in the distribution of the soaps.

  • A clean environment will reduce the incidence of various diseases and keep the ISCO and all other children healthy and happy.

  • ISCO leads every year a Youth Day for all teenagers. The program will include camping and adventure in the nature. This year, the event was held in Picung village in Bogor, and was attended by around 100 Junior and Senior Secondary School children.
